We support local and responsibly manufacture all our garments here in Australia.
It’s a cornerstone of our approach to responsible fashion to nurture meaningful relationships, guarantee fair working conditions and reduce carbon emissions. Keeping our production in Australia helps us achieve those goals. Not only can we support the much-needed renaissance of local production and ensure ethical practice that complies with Australian employment standards, but we can drastically shorten the journey each garment needs to make. All Cooke and Kin pieces are cut and sewn in Melbourne or Sydney by talented makers, with whom we are proud to work. You’ll feel proud doing your bit to support them, too.
We’re proud to partner with two great players in the Australian textile industry.
Based in Brunswick, Melbourne, our apparel manufacturer CGT Australia is a family-run business that’s been crafting since 1983 with a reputation for reliable, high-quality production. They are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA) and are registered under the Textile, Clothing, Footwear Union of Australia (TCFUA), meaning that their employees are guaranteed a safe working environment, full entitlements and fair wages, and an avenue for their voices to be heard. We work intimately with our pattern maker, sample machinist and production team to make garments that proudly carry all the markings of this experienced and responsible manufacturer.
We work closely with a small Sydney-based manufacturer to bring all our swimwear designs to life, and we’ve nurtured this mutually beneficial partnership for the better part of two years. The tight knit team of sewers share a unique relationship and work together like a family (in the best ways) with exceptionally high standards for quality and reliability. Supported by our patternmaker and a local cutter, they’ve expertly turned our ECONYL® regenerated nylon into our favourite range to date.
